Fred Ernest Thompson was born February 20, 1885, the son of William and Bethinia "McGee" Thompson, in Marion County, Illinois. He passed away on May 25, 1949.
On April 17, 1911, he married Lucy Venus Mulvaney. This couple lived in Woodlawn, Illinois until 1933, at which time they moved to Farina, where they have since resided. Eleven children came to bless this home, one daughter Rosemary, died in infancy. Mr. Thompson was a kind and devoted husband, an understanding father, a friend and neighbor to all who knew him.
He leaves as survivors, his wife, four sons, Lloyd and Cleo at home, Ivan of Chicago, and Ralph of Farina; six daughters; Mrs. Blanche Chasteen of Kinmundy, Mrs Josephine Baughers, of Farina, Mrs. Neita Williams of St. Elmo, Mrs. Freida Wright of Fayetteville, N.C., Marjorie and Normagene both at home; two brothers, Frank of Iuka and Will of Mt. Vernon; two sisters Mrs. Annie Humphrey, Sharpsburg, IL, and Mrs. Rose Lampkin of St. Louis, MO.; also a number of grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at Meacham Baptist Church, Sunday afternoon at 12:30 o'clock, conducted by Reverend C. L. Hill of Farina and burial was made in Elder Cemetery, rural Kinmundy, Marion County, Illinois.
